(VOVworld) – The seventh political consultation at deputy foreign ministerial level between Vietnam and Norway has taken place in Norway.

Vietnamese Deputy Foreign Minister Ho Xuan Son and Norwegian State Secretary Morten Høglund co-chaired the consultation meeting. The two sides agreed to increase visits at all levels, promote delegate exchanges and cooperate in preparation for the upcoming visit to Vietnam by Norway’s Foreign Minister. Regarding economics, both host and the guest agreed to accelerate negotiations to finalize the Free Trade Agreement between Vietnam and the European Free Trade Association, which includes Norway. The two diplomats also discussed regional and international issues of mutual concern. Norway affirmed its support for Vietnam in maintaining a peaceful and stable environment, settling disputes by peaceful means on the basis of international law especially the 1982 United Nations Convention on the Law of the Sea.
