Vietnam-US friendship exchange in Danang

(VOVworld) – 16 US peace activists, led by John McAuliff, Executive Director of the US Fund for Reconciliation and Development, met with organizations and Agent Orange/Dioxin victims in Danang city on Monday as part of their visit to Vietnam. They were briefed on Danang’s development, its cooperation with the US, the work of the Vietnam-US Friendship Association in Danang, and the support of Americans for Danang citizens. Their meeting looked at regional peace, assistance for Agent Orange/Dioxin victims, the promotion of Vietnam’s image in the US, and ways to promote people-to-people exchanges.

These delegates used to protest against the American war in Vietnam. They now want to better understand Vietnam’s history, landscape, and people through meetings with local organizations, visits to scenic spots and historical sites, and to participate in activities marking the 40th anniversary of the Southern Liberation and National Reunification.
