India has always been a great and trustworthy friend to Vietnam, Thanh said. Vietnam and India entered a strategic partnership in 2007, and ever since, the two countries have expanded cooperation in politics, national defense, economics, science, technology, culture, and education. The two nations elevated their strategic partnership to a comprehensive strategic partnership during the visit of Indian Prime Minister Narendra Modi to Vietnam last year.
