(VOVworld) – A ceremony was held in Hanoi on Wednesday to welcome home the Vietnamese delegation to the 11th International Junior Science Olympiad (IJSO) in Mendoza city, Argentina.

At this competition, Vietnamese students bagged two gold, two silver, and one bronze medal.This is the best result Vietnam has achieved in 7 contests. The Olympiad was held for the first time in 2004.

All five medal winners are 10th graders at the Hanoi-Amsterdam High School for the Gifted.

Pham Manh Hung, Deputy Minister of Education and Training, said their performance reflected honor not only on Hanoi’s students but also on Vietnamese youth. But he noted that their achievements are only initial successes and called on them to work hard to achieve real mastery.
