(VOVworld) – 500 Overseas Vietnamese living in Bangkok and adjacent areas attended a get-together on Tuesday in Bangkok to celebrate the upcoming traditional lunar New Year festival. Attendees enjoyed special Vietnamese cuisine and music performances by Vietnamese artists.

Vietnamese Ambassador to Thailand Nguyen Tat Thanh said 2016 marks the 40^th anniversary of diplomatic ties between Vietnam and Thailand, and urged Vietnamese Thai people to support the Vietnamese Embassy in organizing activities to mark the event. He also asked overseas Vietnamese people to support Vietnamese workers in Thailand: "Although it’s the Embassy’s task to support Vietnamese workers in Thailand, we hope overseas Vietnamese people will join us in this effort. As more and more Vietnamese workers come to Thailand, we urge local overseas Vietnamese to help us realize applicable policies and guidelines."
