(VOVworld) – Egypt’s Culture Ministry in collaboration with Vietnamese artists organized the first ever water puppet show on an Egyptian style on Thursday. Egyptian Minister of Culture Helmy El Namnam and Vietnamese Ambassador to Egypt Do Hoang Long attended the show.

The play “Isis and Osiris” was staged using water puppetry, a unique art form of Vietnam. The play recounts an Egyptian fairy tale with characters who are all Vietnamese water puppets.
Artist Mai Monab, who wrote the script and is one of the puppeteers, said: “The Vietnamese water puppetry is a unique art and it touched my heart. I love Vietnamese culture and I was attached to Vietnam’s water puppetry. When I entered that field, I found it’s not only that culture that I love, even the people. They are friendly, helpful, and supportive everywhere. I have a dream to be in Vietnam because it will be the first time that foreigners did a water puppetry show and I’d like to know the opinion of the Vietnamese audience. I hope you like it.”
