Vietnam’s best sportsmen in 2016 honored

(VOVworld) – Vietnam’s best athletes and coaches in 2016 were honored in Hanoi on Monday as part of the 71st celebration of Vietnam Sports Day.

The honorees included shooter Hoang Xuan Vinh who won Vietnam’s first-ever Olympic gold medal at the Rio Games and Vietnamese disabled athletes, who won medals at the Rio Paralympics.

Le Khanh Hai, Deputy Minister of Culture, Sports, and Tourism, said: “The program not only acknowledges best athletes and coaches of Vietnam but also encourages others to work harder. I hope that Vietnam will win big at the forthcoming Olympics, ASIAD, and SEA Games”.

At the ceremony, Prime Minister Certificates of Merit were presented to the Vietnam futsal team for its great performance at the Asian championship and to the U19 football squad for qualifying for the U20 World Cup.
