Vietnam's top legislator meets Czech leaders

(VOVworld) – The legislative bodies of Vietnam and the Czech Republic have agreed to consolidate relations in multilateral parliamentary forums to which both countries are members like IPU and ASEP.

National Assembly Chairwoman, Nguyen Thi Kim Ngan, made the statement during talks with President of the Senate of the Czech Parliament, Milan Stech, in Prague on Wednesday following an official welcoming ceremony.

She said the two nations also agreed to continue high-level delegation exchanges and exchanges between parliamentary agencies.

After the talk, Ms. Ngan and Mr. Stech held a press briefing where they re-affirmed the great potential of bilateral cooperation.

Ms. Ngan said Vietnam wants to boost comprehensive cooperation with the Czech Republic.

“Mr. Stech and I discussed issues of mutual concern in a frank manner. We both agreed that relations between Vietnam and the Czech Republic are friendly and time-honored. We hope cooperation between the two parliaments will be productive,” said Madam Ngan.

Senate President Stech said he hopes Vietnam will create favorable conditions for Czech businesses to explore long-term investments in Vietnam.

The same day, Ms. Ngan met President Milos Zeman and Prime Minister Bohuslav Sobotka where she reiterated that Vietnam attaches importance to developing relations with traditional friends including the Czech Republic.

She said Vietnam is ready to help the Czech Republic boost collaboration with ASEAN and its members, and urged the Czech leaders to encourage their businesses to invest in Vietnam in renewable energy, machinery, mining, infrastructure, and the support industry.

President Zeman said that a number of enterprises will accompany him during his upcoming state visit to Vietnam. He said he hopes the two countries will sign many economic contracts to improve their bilateral relations.
