Virginia federal judge issues rebuke of Trump’s travel ban

(VOVworld) - A Virginia federal judge on Monday issued a preliminary injunction against President Donald Trump's travel ban on people from seven Muslim-majority nations, the latest legal setback for the Trump administration in its series of new executive orders. The ruling from US District Judge Leonie Brinkema came in response to a request from the Commonwealth of Virginia.

Earlier, US District Judge James Robart in Seatle ruled to block this travel ban, which was upheld by the 9th US Circuit Court of Appeals in San Francisco.

US immigration officers have arrested more than 680 people in crackdowns in Los Angeles, New York, North Carolina, and South Carolina but not all of them were found with criminal records or subject to deportation.

On Monday, the US Senate voted to approve Steven Mnuchin, former Goldman Sachs banker, as Donald Trump’s Treasury Secretary.
