WIPO pledges support for Vietnam’s intellectual property rights

(VOVworld) – Vietnam is exerting efforts to improve institutions involved in intellectual property, copyright, and related rights. Last year, the Vietnamese government adopted a strategy on developing cultural institutions until 2020 with a vision to 2030.

Minister of Culture, Sports, and Tourism Nguyen Ngoc Thien addressed the issue at a reception in Hanoi on Wednesday for Francis Gurry, Director General of the World Intellectual Property Organisation (WIPO).

Thien said he hopes that the WIPO will continue to provide support for Vietnam in the field, especially in qualified personnel training.

Gurry said that Vietnam will consider joining several WIPO pacts, including the Marrakesh Treaty to Facilitate Access to Published Works for Persons Who Are Blind, Visually Impaired, or Otherwise Print Disabled.
