Speaking to the press, White House spokesman Josh Earnest said this is another example of gun violence that is becoming all too common in communities large and small all across the United States. He added that there are some common sense things that only Congress can do to reduce gun violence. President Barack Obama has said that a failure to tighten gun restrictions has been the greatest source of frustration during his time in office.

According to the latest reports, the suspect who killed two journalists was a 41-year-old black man named Vester Flanagan. Flanagan shot reporter Alison Parker and cameraman Adam Ward while they were broadcasting live in a public location.
