Artist Tran Thi Tuyet
(VOVworld) – At present, many Vietnamese poetry lovers still love the voice of artist Tran Thi Tuyet on the Voice of Vietnam’s poetry recitation program in the 1960s and 1970s.  Her emotional voice has enlivened many poems, stirring national pride and patriotism
among people. Tran Thi Tuyet has received the title “People’s Artist” for her contributions to Vietnam’s poetry recitation. Minh Hanh reports…

In her 80s, Tuyet still recites poems. She also composes poems about her love for the motherland, President Ho Chi Minh, and Radio the Voice of Vietnam (VOV) where she worked for many years. VOV’s poetry recitation program brought Tuyet’s voice to people nationwide and overseas Vietnamese around the world. Her voice and recitation skills are loved by not only radio listeners and poetry lovers but also poets. This is attributed to her sweet and emotional voice plus her preparations to best convey the poems’ soul and messages to listeners. Tuyet’s husband, Colonel Nguyen Nhu Thien told VOV: "Life was very hard at that time and we had to live in a dilapidated garage. Famous poets Xuan Dieu and Cu Huy Can often visited us in person. Their encouragement warmed our hearts and made us forget all the hardships and stay focused in our work. Tuyet was very enthusiastic with her work. She traveled to the fiercest battle fields and contributed her best to the resistance against the US."

Tran Mui, a member of the Vietnam Musicians’ Association, said Tuyet is the best person to recite poems in Vietnam: "Her voice is deep, yet so pure and emotional. I think poems are best recited with Tuyet’s voice. Her recitation often touches listeners’ hearts. She is a great artist and I’m sure that Tuyet and her voice were very popular among many people, especially those living in the south, and liberation soldiers, via radio the Voice of Vietnam’s broadcasts. Her recitation inspired soldiers and bolster their strong will."

Like musician Trần Mùi, writer and journalist Phan Ngọc Quang has been a fan of. Tuyet’s voice since he was a kid. Quang said Tuyet’s voice deepens his love for poetry: "When I was small, my father had a radio set and we listened to VOV’s poetry recitation program every night. Together with other famous artists like Linh Nham, Tuong Vy, and Ho Diep, Ms. Tuyet often recited revolutionary poems at that time. Tuyet’s voice was very special. It was clear, echoing, yet warm and very easy to listen to at night."

Hanoi-born Nguyen Thi Tuyet and her beautiful voice are famous with poems of President Ho Chi Minh, and other famous writers and poets, including To Huu, Che Lan Vien, Nguyen Binh, and Vu Cao.  In the past, Tuyet had the honor to recite President Ho Chi Minh’s poems on every New Year’s Eve.
