High school student receives ASEAN scholarship

(VOVworld) – Doan Nu Ngoc Linh of  Nguyen Tat Thanh High School in Kon Tum province, has been an excellent student for 10 consecutive years. She has been chosen as one of eight Vietnamese students to receive the ASEAN scholarship sponsored by the Singapore Ministry of Education.

Doan Nu Ngoc Linh has an impressive academic record. Linh won second prize at the Hanoi Open Mathematics Olympiad, a gold medal at the Internet English Olympics in the 2014 – 2015 term, and a gold medal at the Chemistry Olympiad in 2016. Nguyen Thai Son, head teacher of the advanced chemistry class at Nguyen Tat Thanh High School, talked about his student: “Doan Nu Ngoc Linh always does her best and she is excellent in all subjects. She is also a helpful person who always helps her classmates do better in their studies”.

 Ngoc Linh’s tireless effort is the key to her success. Outside class, Linh is keen to explore new and more effective ways of studying. For English, she regularly practices the 4 skills of listening, speaking, reading, and writing and enriches her knowledge by watching English programs on TV or the internet.

Linh received excellent scores on examinations in math, English, and IQ and in the ASEAN scholarship interview. She is now studying at a gifted school in Singapore with the support of the Singapore government. Linh said: “I am so happy to receive such an important scholarship. My efforts have paid off. This scholarship is so meaningful to me. I will spend 4 years in Singapore enriching my knowledge. I hope to become a doctor in the future”.

The ASEAN Scholarships help young people of ASEAN develop their potential and equip themselves with important skills for the future. The eight Vietnamese students who received ASEAN scholarships will study for four years to earn a certificate enabling them to pursue tertiary education in Britain, Singapore, or elsewhere.
