(VOVworld)  - Although in his 70s, Le Van Huu, Vice President of the Association for the Elderly of Tu Lien ward, Tay Ho district in Hanoi is still actively engaged in social activities. He has been involved in the Association’s communication activities for more than 10 years already. Huu is loved and respected by all local residents. 

Huu’s voice reading the news bulletin on the loudspeaker system of Tu Lien ward has become familiar over the last 10 years. Huu is on the air at 7:30 AM and 4:30 PM every day. People call him “head of the radio station” but in fact he does all the work from writing and editing the news stories to announcing them on the air. Every day, Huu closely follows the domestic news, particularly information about people’s livelihoods to update himself and to make his radio program more interesting. Although each program lasts between 15 and 30 minutes, Huu spends lots of time preparing the content. Despite his age, Huu is a good announcer with a pronunciation easy for everyone to understand. He said: “Some people like what I do, some don’t. It appears to be a simple job, yet it takes a lot of time. For instance, on important occasions I have to seek information and materials in advance to prepare for my program. I try to make my program as familiar to everyone as possible. Some people say my program is like a reminder of their timetable. It’s tiring but I enjoy doing my job.”

Vu Minh Canh, a local resident, says: “I really enjoy listening to the ward’s radio program as it contains useful information related to our livelihood. Mr. Huu goes to the radio station exactly on time and he even works on the weekend.”
