That was the performance by primary pupils of Nghia Do primary school, Hanoi, at the “Hanoi Kids Aerobic Championship 2013” contest for kindergarten and primary pupils. This is a new activity in the framework of this year’s exhibition-fair which has attracted kids from 20 schools and clubs in Hanoi. The contest gives the children an opportunity to play, share, and get some exercise. Nguyen Thuy Tien is the mother of one contestant: "I see this as a playground where children improve their confidence and life skills. Moreover, the children can get some exercise and gain friends. It is now summer time and this is a good playground for the children".

The exhibition-fair includes many exciting activities. Nguyen Thanh Doan, a member of the Organizing Board, told VOV: "There are painting exhibitions for children and art exchange programs. Many toy companies offer the children free toys".

The national children’s painting exhibition 2013 displays paintings which won prizes in the national children’s painting contest. 417 paintings reflect vividly the world of childhood, friendship, pupils and teachers, and the affection children feel for President Ho Chi Minh and their country. Mr. Doan again: "The Department of Fine Arts, Photography and Exhibition launched the children’s painting contest and received 90,000 entries. The most outstanding entries are on display here. The contest stimulates a love of art and an aesthetic sense in the children".

Paintings in the exhibition express the emotions of children in bright colors and daring compositions. Nguyen Bich Van says of the paintings: "The displayed paintings are spontaneous and have high education values. The colors and topics are diverse. Some children drew boat races, others drew well-known scenic spots in their homelands. I think the children have good imaginations".

2nd grade pupil Nguyen Minh Ngoc is very interested in the exhibition. Ngoc says she hopes her own paintings will be displayed in such an exhibition one day: "This picture has bright colors, while the others have a mixture of dark and bright colors. The composition is clear and bright with uncomplicated details. Some paintings depict soldiers or parents, others depict children playing with Uncle Ho. I like this exhibition and hope that I will have a chance to participate in the next exhibition".
