(VOVworld) - The ongoing exhibition “Hanoi’s trams – Past and Future” recaptures the image of the city trams in the past and introduces its future trend. The event was organized by the Hanoi Department of Culture, Sports and Tourism to mark the 59th anniversary of Hanoi’s Liberation Day, October 10th. The images of old Hanoi’s trams and modern capital city are shown through the 3D technology of the Digitalization Group.

The exhibition creates a vivid and lively space with chains of trams which were considered the symbol and soul of ancient Hanoi. Around thirty 3D photos of different sizes depict the image of Hanoi’s old tram system in the late 19th and early 20th centuries, with five routes, including Hoan Kiem or Restored Sword Lake as a central station. Many lovers of Hanoi’s trams from past times have visited the exhibition, which recalls past memories for them. Doan Xuan Kinh is a Hanoi resident: "In the past, Hanoi had only six tram routes: Hoan Kiem Lake-Cau Giay, Hoan Kiem Lake-Yen Phu and Hoan Kiem Lake-Ha Dong as the furthest. Hanoi used to be very small in the past. I usually traveled Hoan Kiem Lake-Hanoi which was the longest and most romantic. The exhibition reminded me of my youth in the capital city, with the trams typical of Hanoi".

Like Kinh, Nguyen Thi Ngoc  Anh also went to the exhibition to relive her childhood days associated with the trams: "I liked watching the trams passing by. I lived near Hang Co railway station. My mother often took us to Hoan Kiem Lake at the weekend by tram. I still remember the sound “leng keng” of the tram and of Xam singing on the tram. The exhibition reminded of the peaceful Hanoi in the past".

The image of Hanoi trams was recaptured with the special technology brought by Hanoi Digitalization group led by architect Nguyen Van Quang. The pictures and sounds of the trams were made using the 6D technology which has deeper and lively effects than 3D or 4D technology. The viewers can see, hear and feel as if they are in a real tram. The exhibition has attracted a lot of people especially the young who want to learn more about the history of Hanoi’s trams. Nguyen Thuy Trang is the student of Hanoi Architectural University: "This exhibition is quite different to many others in Hanoi. I have new experience in technology and light. I can see the image of old Hanoi in the 3D technology. This may be future trend which recapture and preserve the values of the history for later generations with modern technology. The exhibition brings me a sense of nostalgia".
Not only local visitors but also foreigners go to the exhibition. Sarah Bay comes from Denmark: "Copenhagen city in Denmark also has such kind of trams. As a foreigner to Hanoi, I see that the image of trams is one special impression about Hanoi".

The exhibition “Hanoi’trams-Past and Future” also gives an overview of a modern public transportation network in the coming years through 3D pictures and video clips on underground and aerial railway systems under construction in Hanoi. Architect Nguyen Van Quang is the head of the Hanoi Digitalization group: "The exhibition is part of our plan to build the Hanoi’s Old Quarter into the 2nd museum on the old streets in the past and at present. This exhibition focuses on Hanoi’s trams aiming to introduce the cultural values of Hanoi through the trams as well as the city’s railway systems in the future".
