The 5th agriculture fair, organized by the Ho Chi Minh City’s Farmers Association, the Department of Agriculture and Rural Development, and the Department of Industry and Trade,  opened from October 5-10 at Go Vap Flower Village, Go Vap precinct. More than 100 organizations and farmers joined the fair to introduce their certified farm produces and seek partners. The fair had many sections selling flowers and bonsai trees, agriculture products, processed-aquaculture products, fine arts articles, and craft products. Businesses from the southwestern and northeastern provinces also brought their products to the fair.
Farmer Ba Loc came from Tanh Linh district, Binh Thuan province, said he sold durians grown in his farm and of his neighbors. “I just want to introduce our safe and fresh durian to Ho Chi Minh City dwellers. A lot of people love durians but they hesitate to buy them in market. My durians are safe agriculture products grown in Tanh Linh forest.”

Ho Chi Minh City’s weekend agriculture fair opens at Dong Ho restaurant on Cao Thang road every two weeks from 6 am to 6 pm. There are diverse kinds of products and brands such as Ba Huan’s eggs, pork of Sai Gon Husbandry and Food Processing Company, vegetable and fruits of DalatGAP company, and many well-known cooperatives.

Besides agriculture fairs managed by the city authority, some fairs are organized by companies such as the Green Fair at Pasteur park by the The Center of Business Studies and Assistance (BSA), the Food and Foodstuff Fair on Le Ngo Cat road, and Tam Dan Fair in district 1.
Phan Thu Hang said she is interested in shopping at the Green Fair and talking to farmers from other localities. “Farmers from many provinces such as Lam Dong, Binh Phuoc, Ben Tre, and Tien Giang sell their products here. At weekend they come to the fair to sell products and meet customers. Although the products are in plain packaging, they are clean and safe."
Products sold at agriculture fairs organized by the city authority must get through quality assurance at the production site and before entering the fair. As an increasing number of people prefer to shop at weekend agriculture fairs, the city plans to organize more similar events to benefit both producers and customers.
