11th national conference on nuclear science and technology opens
(VOVworld) – More than 350 nuclear experts and scientists have attended the 11th national conference on nuclear science and technology in Da Nang city.
The event organized by the Vietnam Atomic Energy Institute and Da Nang’s Department of Science and Technology, worked on plans for scientific research and the development of nuclear technology in the future, and expanded international cooperation in this field. Tran Viet Thanh, Deputy Minister of Science and Technology, said: “Developing the scientific and technological potential of nuclear energy is an important task for Vietnam’s nuclear sector. Experts and scientists, who are in charge of training, research and the development of nuclear energy, will play an important and decisive role”.
In 2006, the Prime Minister approved a strategy of applying nuclear energy for peaceful purposes until 2020. Vietnam is developing a nuclear power project in Ninh Thuan province.
