13th dialogue on anti-corruption opens

(VOVworld)- The 13th Anti-corruption Dialogue (ACD) themed "Anti-Corruption Prevention Measures and Asset Recovery in Vietnam" opened in Hanoi on Monday. It was organized by the Government Inspectorate, the Ministry of Justice and the British Embassy in Vietnam.

In his address, Minister of Justice Ha Hung Cuong shared Vietnam’s anti-corruption approach which is similar to other countries. Cuong said as a member of the UN Convention on Anti-Corruption, Vietnam always considered fighting corruption important and fundamental work to be undertaken by all sectors at all levels. Vietnam’s Anti-Corruption Law has a separate chapter on anti-corruption measures. The 2013 Constitution stipulates new regulations on the organization and operational mechanism of the State, the market economy and international integration emphasizing the determination to fight corruption. Minister Ha Hung Cuong said:“Despite several efforts, Vietnam still faces challenges in preventing corruption and confiscating assets. So, presentations and practical contributions on preventing corruption and confiscating assets shared at this Dialogue will be useful for the relevant agencies in their efforts”.

According to the Government Inspectorate’s report, the Vietnamese Party and Government’s determination to continue to fight corruption is reflected in the 2013 Constitution and the Law on Anti-Corruption as well as many other legal documents.
