At a press conference in Hanoi on Wednesday, the National Organizing Committee of major events for 2014 and 2015 said that the celebrations were aimed at highlighting the profound historical significance of the August Revolution and the birth of the Democratic Republic of Vietnam. Bui The Duc is Deputy Head of the Party Central Committee’s Commission for Communications and Education: “The celebration of the 70th anniversary of the August Revolution and National Day is of great importance. In 1945, the Communist Party of Vietnam with its 5,000 members launched a revolution to set up the first state of workers and farmers in Southeast Asia. Vietnam has carried out a renewal process over nearly 30 years and attained remarkable socio-economic achievements”.

To mark the event, as many as 30,000 people will join a massive parade in Hanoi’s Ba Dinh Square on September 2. Firework displays will be fired at five locations in Hanoi, including Hoan Kiem Lake, Thong Nhat Park, Van Quan Lake, My Dinh Stadium, and West Lake.  The Ministry of Foreign Affairs will hold a banquette in honor of diplomatic delegations to Vietnam on September 1st
