Activities to mark War Martyrs and Invalids Day

(VOVworld) – The 2nd “Solemn Vietnam” art exchange will open on Sunday in Hanoi to pay tribute to the war martyrs who sacrificed themselves for the fatherland.

This is part of activities to mark 67th anniversary of War Martyrs and Invalids Day, July 27th. The program includes stories from war veterans, art works and historical documentaries featuring Vietnam and its people, with their brave and staunch spirit during the resistance wars. Minister of Labor, War Invalids and Social Affairs Pham Thi Hai Chuyen said: "The program is very important. It is an opportunity to raise funds from organizations to support those who have rendered great service to the nation. Through this program, we donate part of the funds to revolutionary contributors in Ha Tinh province".

In another development, a solemn requiem was held in the mountainous northern province of Son La on Thursday and Friday to commemorate the heroic soldiers who laid down their lives for the nation. The event is part of activities nationwide to mark the 67th anniversary of the War Invalids and Martyrs Day (July 27). From 1930 to 1945, more than 1,000 revolutionary soldiers were detained in Son La prison. It is now the resting place of 30 martyrs who were held there and lost their lives After the requiem, a ceremony was held to release doves to pray for world peace.
