Celebrations of Dien Bien Phu victory

(VOVworld) – A ceremony was held in Dien Bien Phu city on Saturday to commemorate the 62nd anniversary of the Dien Bien Phu victory. Dien Bien province received the Labor Order, first class, on this occasion. Mua A Son, Chairman of the provincial People’s Committee, said: “The victory at Dien Bien Phu over French colonialists represented the patriotism and staunchness of Vietnamese people. It was a victory of the revolutionary guideline of the Communist Party of Vietnam, national independence, socialism, national unity, and international solidarity. The victory, which was largely thanks to the solidarity between Vietnam, Laos, and Cambodia, marked the collapse of old colonialism and motivated movements for peace, national independence, democracy, and social progress around the world.”

Earlier, President Tran Dai Quang and other state leaders laid a wreath at Martyrs’ Cemetery A1 to pay tribute to those soldiers who died for national freedom and independence.     

An art program celebrating the event was held in Dien Bien Phu city on Friday. Performances praised the Communist Party of Vietnam, President Ho Chi Minh, and the land and people of Dien Bien.
