At the conference, Deputy Prime Minister Vuong Dinh Hue said many localities want to call for investment from big groups or multinational corporations to settle employment issue and increase exports. But Mr. Hue noted that it’s important to attract hi-tech and small and medium sized enterprises with modern technology and good governance that match Vietnam’s policy of economic restructuring. Deputy Prime Minister Hue said: “We should uphold corporations’ advantages in job generation, personal income tax and export growth. But further steps need to taken. We should not attract foreign direct investment at all costs. It’s necessary to choose those which are suitable to our restructure orientation, have good technology and governance and are willing to cooperate with Vietnamese businesses. We call for investment from small and medium-sized enterprises”.
