Hung Kings Temple Festival 2014

(VOVworld) – Phu Tho and 3 other provinces representing the northern, central and southern regions organized the Hung Kings Temple Festival to commemorate the death anniversary of the Hung Kings, the founders of the nation on Wednesday.

The incense offering ceremony was attended by Permanent member of the Party Secretariat Le Hong Anh, President of the Vietnam Fatherland Front Nguyen Thien Nhan and leaders of ministries and central agencies. Chief Organizer of the festival, Chairman of the provincial People’s Committee Chu Ngoc Anh highlighted Vietnam’s 4000-year glorious history of national construction and defense and showed the gratitude of the Vietnamese people to the ancestors. He also briefed on Vietnam’s achievements in the renewal and international integration process.

A number of cultural and sporting activities were held after the rituals including a sticky rice cake making contest, unicorn dance, and Xoan singing. Festival goers were also treated to art performances typical of the 3 regions of Vietnam such as amateur singing of Vinh Long and Long An, Quan Ho folk singing of Bac Ninh, and chanting of Quang Binh.

A delegation of 70 overseas Vietnamese from 20 countries returned to the homeland to attend the festival and pay their tribute to the Hung Kings. Pham Minh Tiem of Australia says: “Vietnamese people abroad always turn our hearts and minds to the homeland and we are very happy to be here today. We hope we would be able to further contribute to Vietnam’s development.”

Commemorative activities also took place in district 9, Ho Chi Minh city and Can Tho city.
