Leniency is Vietnam’s major policy in crime prevention

(VOVworld) – Deputy Prime Minister Nguyen Xuan Phuc, President of the 2015 National Advisory Council for Amnesty chaired a meeting on Saturday to review the list of eligible prisoners for amnesty on National Day (September 2).

The list will be submitted to the President for approval. Mr. Phuc said that humaneness and leniency are Vietnam’s major policy in fighting crime and helping the released prisoners to reintegrate into society. The National Advisory Council for Amnesty has reviewed more than 18,000 cases. Vietnam has granted amnesty to more than 63,000 prisoners since 2009.
