(VOVworld)- Vietnam received more than 1,800 visits from 760 non governmental organizations this year. They have given more than 300 million dollars to Vietnam. At a meeting in Hanoi on Tuesday, an official from the Vietnam Union of Friendship Organizations, Nguyen Ngoc Hung, said that the figure is encouraging, given the context of world financial difficulties:“I am delighted to see 42 new non-governmental organizations registered to operate in Vietnam this year. They have shown a interest in Vietnam’s poverty reduction and sustainable growth and have selected Vietnam as a promising destination.”

Addressing the closing session, Deputy Foreign Minister and Deputy Head of the Committee on non-governmental organizations, Ho Xuan Son, said Vietnam badly needs foreign aid from non-governmental organizations to boost local socio-economic development in line with Vietnam’s growth strategy.
