Overseas Vietnamese connect Vietnam with the world

(VOVworld) – More than 500 delegates from all over world attended 3rd Overseas Vietnamese conference which opened on Saturday in Ho Chi Minh City.

The 2-day conference discussed issues of Ho Chi Minh City which leads the nation in attracting remittances, investment and Overseas Vietnamese’s contributions. Delegates also seek ways to build Ho Chi Minh City as a model for encouraging and mobilizing Overseas Vietnamese’s contributions. Deputy Prime Minister and Foreign Minister Pham Binh Minh said the Party and State consider Overseas Vietnamese an inseparable part of Vietnam and help boost friendship between Vietnam and the rest of the world:“I call on domestic and Overseas Vietnamese delegates to share experiences and lessons learned, and propose measures for the city’s development in all areas. I believe that the heartfelt presentations at the conference will be put forth new ideas and practical proposals.”

At a reception for representatives of Overseas Vietnamese on Friday, Chairman of Ho Chi Minh City’s People’s Committee Nguyen Thanh Phong, said he welcomed ideas and suggestions from Overseas Vietnamese business people to create momentum for the city to become an economic, financial, and technological hub of Vietnam and the region.
