Party, State leaders pay tribute to President Ho Chi Minh

(VOVworld) - A delegation of the Party Central Committee, the President, the National Assembly, the government, and the Vietnam Fatherland Front (VFF) Central Committee visited the Mausoleum of Ho Chi Minh in Hanoi on Thursday to commemorate his 126th birthday on May 19.

The delegation included Party General Secretary Nguyen Phu Trong, President Tran Dai Quang, National Assembly Chairwoman Nguyen Thi Kim Ngan and President of the VFF Central Committee Nguyen Thien Nhan, alongside many former and incumbent Party and State officials.

The delegation also laid a wreath at the Monument to Fallen Soldiers.

The same day, delegations of the Vietnam People's Army’s General Political Department, the Defense Ministry, the Public Security Ministry, and the Hanoi City administration paid tribute to President Ho Chi Minh at his mausoleum and laid floral wreath at the Monument to Fallen Soldiers.

The Party Committee, the People’s Council, the People’s Committee, and the Vietnam Fatherland Front of Ho Chi Minh City also held incense offering ceremonies in memory of the late President at the municipal Ho Chi Minh Museum and the Ho Chi Minh Monument Park.

Thousands of people from across Vietnam visited the Ho Chi Minh Mausoleum on Thursday. 80-year-old Phan Thi Nguyen of Thai Binh province said: “I visited the mausoleum 20 years ago. When I saw the President I couldn’t take my eyes off him and I just burst into tears.”

Many of the visitors were war veterans. Hoang Van Lieu of Yen Bai province said he hopes everyone will follow President Ho Chi Minh’s teachings: “This is the first time that I’ve visited the mausoleum on the President’s birthday. I hope that the young will follow his moral example and that we will be able to elect our representatives at the upcoming election.”

A symphony composed by a Lao musician in praise of President Ho Chi Minh was given to the Vietnamese people on Thursday. At a ceremony at the Vietnam Culture Center in Vientiane, Laos, musician Duangmyxay Lykaya  said the symphony shows his esteem for President Ho Chi Minh, a beloved leader of the Vietnamese people and a great friend to Laos.

The Vietnamese Embassy in Mexico City laid a wreath at President Ho Chi Minh’s monument on May 18 to commemorate his 126th birthday and celebrate the 41st anniversary of bilateral diplomatic ties. Ambassador Le Linh Lan and the Embassy staff have committed to study and follow President Ho Chi Minh’s moral example to build a more prosperous Vietnam.
