(VOVworld) – The Steering Committee for the Central Highlands region on Monday met to review its operation in the first half of this year and launch activities for the coming months.

The region’s GDP growth rate reached 9% and export revenue was at 899 million USD. Social security has been guaranteed while the infrastructure and quality of education and healthcare have been improved. General Tran Dai Quang, Politburo member, Minister of Public Security, and Head of the Steering Committee for the Central Highlands, said the major tasks for the rest of the year are to enhance cooperation with the local authority and sectors to ensure socio-political stability, national defense, and border security. He asked the Central Highlands provinces to boost the economic growth rate, the incomes of the ethnic minority people and their living conditions, resolve the problems of natural resources, the environment, land, and employment. Mr. Quang asked to monitor the implementation of follow-up to the Central Highlands region’s trade promotion conference, particularly the licensed projects, and commitments to offer credit for socio-economic development activities.
