(VOVworld) – Radio the Voice of Vietnam marked its 70
th founding anniversary on Monday in Hanoi. Party leader Nguyen Phu Trong, former President Le Duc Anh, National Assembly Deputy Chairwoman Tong Thi Phong, Head of the Party Central Committee's Commission for Mass Mobilization Ha Thi Khiet, and Deputy Prime Minister Vu Duc Dam were present at the ceremony.
In his speech, VOV President Nguyen Dang Tien reviewed the radio’s 70 years of development which is linked to the establishment and development of Vietnam. VOV broadcast its first program at 11h30 am on September 7
th, 1945, 5 days after the founding of the Democratic Republic of Vietnam. President Tien said at present, VOV currently aims to become a multi-media complex covering all 4 major media forms – radio, television, print, and online newspaper. He said: "VOV has seen vigorous growth both in quality and scale. From its initial 90-minute broadcast, VOV now broadcasts 600 hours with more than 250 programs each day, covering 97.43% of residential areas in Vietnam, a large area of the East Sea, and regions abroad, thanks to its application of advanced broadcasting technologies via the internet and satellites."
Deputy PM Vu Duc Dam addresses the event

In his address, Deputy Prime Minister Vu Duc Dam praised VOV’s leaders, reporters, technicians, artists, and other staff for helping the public make their voices heard. He said:“Each VOV journalist needs to improve their professionalism and political stance to give the audience timely, accurate, truthful, and interesting information. Every piece of reported news, every story, every gesture impacts the public, either positively or negatively. It’s a great honor for VOV journalists and artists to announce “This is the Voice of Vietnam”. The honor needs to be respected with conscience and responsibility”.
To mark the occasion, VOV received Vietnam’s Independence Order, first class, for the second time. VOV President Nguyen Dang Tien received Vietnam’s Independence Order, Third Class.
