Vietnam Ethnic Groups’ Cultural Day 2017 to honor bamboo instruments

(VOVworld) - The Vietnam Ethnic Groups’ Cultural Day 2017 scheduled for next Wednesday at the Vietnam National Village for Ethnic Culture and Tourism in Hanoi’s Son Tay town will promote ethnic people’s musical instruments.

Named ‘Melody from the forests’, the festival will run through next Sunday and draw patriarchs, artisans, collectors of folk instruments, and people from ethnic minority groups across Vietnam, including Muong, Thai, E De, Ta Oi, Khmer , and Co Tu. They will introduce visitors to their cultural practices and traditional customs.

Six main activities will be organized during this event, with an opening ceremony to be the highlight.

There will be an exhibition and demonstration of bamboo musical instruments and a recreation of traditional festivals of ethnic minority groups such as an ancestor worshipping ceremony of the Lo Lo people in Ha Giang province.
