Vietnam celebrates International Francophone Day

(VOVworld) – Deputy Foreign Minister Ha Kim Ngoc has highlighted the achievements the French speaking community has made in addressing global challenges on security and development.

Addressing a ceremony in Hanoi on Friday to mark International Francophone Day, Ngoc also reiterated Vietnam’s contributions to strengthening Francophonie and raising the image of the International Organization of the La Francophonie (OIF).“Vietnam will continue to contribute to consolidating the solidarity and cooperation within the community of French speaking countries for peace, stability, and sustainable development in the world. Vietnam is ready to be a link for the development of the French language in the Asia-Pacific region,” Ngoc stressed.

Awards are given to individuals in recognition of their contributions to Vietnam-Francophonie cooperation  

Eric-Normand Thibeault, Asia-Pacific regional director of the OIF, said the organization highly valued Vietnam’s role in the community, adding that the OIF treasured cooperation projects with Vietnam, particularly those in  teaching French, boosting cultural diversity, and coping with climate change. 

On this occasion, some individuals were awarded for their contributions to cooperation between Vietnam and Francophonie. 

Speaking at a ceremony to celebrate 55 years of the French Falculty, Do Tuan Minh, Dean of the University of Languages and International Studies said that the Faculty has contributed enormously to popularizing the French language in the community.
