Vietnam contributes to global health care issues

(VOVworld) - Vietnam attended the 139th meeting of the Executive Board of the World Health Organisation (WHO) in Geneva, Switzerland early this week.

Health Minister Nguyen Thi Kim Tien told the meeting that Vietnam contributed ideas on mental diseases such as Alzheimer’s, building an action program to prevent deafness and reduce the impact of climate change on people’s health. Vietnam shared its experience in fighting new diseases like Ebola and MERS-CoV. According to Minister Tien, Vietnam’s health sector has been able to stop these diseases from spreading in Vietnam and this success has been praised by the United Nations and the international community. 

Vietnam and Fiji are representatives from the West Pacific region to the WHO Executive Board for the 2016-2019 tenure.
