Addressing the event, Deputy Prime Vu Duc Dam called on the community to be aware of the importance of vaccines in children’s health, and also urged relevant bodies to work with the health sector to ensure effective implementation of the nationally expanded immunization program. Health Minister Nguyen Thi Kim Tien said more than 30 communicable diseases can be prevented by vaccinations and stressed the importance of vaccines in preventing the recurrence of these diseases in Vietnam: “If immunizations are not maintained, the possibility of disease spreading is increased. The Immunization Week was initiated by the World Health Organization to protect health through these expanded programs. The event is part of promotion activities to increase awareness of the importance of immunizations in protecting community health”.
