At the meeting, Mr. Dung reiterated Vietnam’s unswerving policy of renewal and openness, trade liberalization, and greater integration into the global economy. Dung said he wished to receive more consultations from the WTO Secretariat and the Director General on Vietnam’s economic and trade development policy.

He also called on their support for building a legal framework for the economy and trade, as well as training and improving Vietnam’s capacity to actualize multilateral commitments and handle disputes.

WTO Director General Azevedo suggested Vietnam continue its coordination with the WTO Secretariat in putting forward initiatives in order to effectively materialize multilateral commitment packages and deal with emerging global trade issues.
