(VOV) - Radio the Voice of Vietnam (VOV) and Japan’s NHK will strengthen cooperation in many fields to celebrate the 40th anniversary of the establishment of diplomatic ties between the two countries next year.

The two media agencies should increase cooperation in the exchange of their broadcasts and human resource training, while concretising their 2004 cooperation agreement to deepen bilateral ties.

The proposal was made by VOV Director General Nguyen Dang Tien at a reception in Tokyo on April 12 given by NHK Vice President, Naoji Ono.

According to Director General Nguyen Dang Tien, VOV’s broadcasts on Japan and its people have always attracted listeners. Especially, with the launch of a TV channel (VOVTV) and both online and print newspapers, VOV brings updated information on Japan to Vietnamese people.

Tien asked NHK to support VOV in developing VOV-TV channel through the exchange of Japan’s dramas and documentaries.

NHK Vice President Naoji Ono highlighted VOV development over the years and expressed the wish that VOV will co-ordinate with NHK to bring more of Japan’s television products to Vietnamese people.

NHK wants to further cooperate with VOV within the framework of the Asia Pacific Broadcasting Union (ABU), said Naoji, believing that as an active ABU member, VOV will successfully organize the ABU General Assembly in Vietnam next year.

During its visit in Japan, the VOV delegation held a working session with Vietnamese ambassador to Japan Doan Xuan Hung.

Ambassador Hung highlighted VOV’s role in disseminating information about the two countries, contributing to promoting the strategic partnership between Vietnam and Japan.

For his part, Tien affirmed that VOV will produce special broadcasts to mark the 40th anniversary of the establishment of diplomatic ties between Vietnam and Japan.
