Opening the event, Mr. Vinh said that Vietnam as host of APEC 2017 has selected the theme “Creating new dynamism, fostering a shared future” to boost growth, investment, trade, integration, and sustainable development in the region. Vietnam has worked closely with member economies and the business communities to achieve common goals and positive results have been recorded. Ambassador Vinh said Vietnam has been hosting nearly 200 meetings at all levels within the APEC framework, focusing on four priorities: promoting sustainable, innovative and inclusive growth; deepening regional economic integration; strengthening micro, small and medium enterprises (MSMEs) competitiveness and innovation in the digital age; and enhancing food security and sustainable agriculture. Mr. Vinh noted that this is an important premise for the success of the APEC Economic Leaders’ Week in November and for future direction of APEC and the region.
