Hundreds of journalists, cameramen, and artists of the Voice of Vietnam have visited Truong Sa Archipelagos over the past few years. After their trips, articles, poems, the songs and photos have been published to give the public and audience inside and outside Vietnam an insight into the lives of Vietnamese seamen who are defending the nation’s maritime and island territories.

Visiting Truong Sa for the first time, journalist Nguyen My Tra of the Voice of Vietnam had an unforgettable experience. She will never forget the excitement of visiting the islands, the sickness she got due to big waves caused by low pressures, and the touching moment of saying good bye to soldiers on the island. Tra took every opportunity to get unique shots of the sunrise and sunset on Tien Nu, Co Lin, Toc Tan, Da Tay, Da Lat, Big Truong Sa, and East Truong Sa Islands.

During her ten-day trip, Tra visited 10 islands in the Truong Sa Archipelago, where she took a lot of photos. To get good shots, Tra didn’t hesitate to climb up the DK1 platforms, the lighthouse, and even rock cliffs. While taking photo, it’s important to catch the right moment. Tra’s photo “Miraculous Truong Sa” touches the hearts of viewers because in that photo the rainbow seems to connect the Da Tay lighthouse with a soldier seen from afar. It’s really a unique photo because it’s hard to find and capture such a beautiful moment. A professional photographer commented that the photo was successful beyond the author’s expectation.

70 photos on display at the exhibition are divided into three themes: the colors of Truong Sa, the beauty of Vietnamese soldiers on the islands, and the spiritual life on the islands. These categories seem to be conceptual as all the themes are intertwined in each photo. This makes it difficult for Tra to name her photos.
