Making Ho Chi Minh’s thought, morality, and style a firm spiritual foundation for social life

(VOVworld)- On May 15, the Party Politburo issued Directive No 5 on “Intensifying the study and following of Ho Chi Minh’s thought, morality, and style”. It aims to make the campaign more effective and applicable to the life of every Vietnamese.

The new Directive looks at results and shortcomings of the implementation over the past 5 years of the previous Directive No3 on studying and following Ho Chi Minh’s moral example. It says initial results have been achieved, significantly contributing to the realization of the Resolution of the 11th National Party Congress and the Resolution of the 11th Party Central Committee on urgent issues of party building.

Directive No5

Directive No5 sets out Ho Chi Minh’s thoughts on the liberation of the nation, class, and people that every party member needs to study. It mentions Ho Chi Minh’s morality of absolute loyalty, consistent pursuit of revolutionary ideals, championing the interests of the party and people and wholeheartedly serving the fatherland and people. The new Directive points out Ho Chi Minh style of independent thinking, self-reliance, creativity, ability to combine theory and reality, words and actions, and ability to persuade the people.  The Party Politburo defines the study and following of Ho Chi Minh’s thought, morality and style as crucial for party building and rectification. Nguyen Thi Phuong Hoa, an official with the Party Central Committee’s Commission for Communications and Education, said: “Directive No5 of the Politburo calls for efforts to make Ho Chi Minh’s thought, morality, and style a firm foundation for social life and Vietnamese culture. The Party, people and army should be more aware of this great value. The Politburo strictly requires the campaign to be connected with the implementation of Resolution 29 of the 11th Party Central Committee on fundamental and comprehensive reform of education and training. The 12th Politburo sets out a demanding task of studying and following Ho Chi Minh’s example”.

Regularly, strictly follow Ho Chi Minh’s example

According to Ms. Nguyen Thi Phuong Hoa, agencies and localities should strictly abide by the new Directive. There will be specialized courses, symposiums and campaigns on following Ho Chi Minh’s thought, morality, and style throughout the current 12th tenure of the Party Central Committee. Organizers of these events are the Commission for Communications and Education and the Ho Chi Minh National Academy of Politics. Ms. Nguyen Thi Phuong Hoa again: “The implementation of the drive should abide by the principle: higher ranking officials and party members do first, others will do after. The Politburo holds an annual specialized course on Ho Chi Minh’s thought and style and is devising a plan for party members to follow suit. The leaders and party members should be exemplary”.

The new Directive states that studying and following Ho Chi Minh’s example is an essential criterion for evaluating cadres, party members, and state employees each year and over their tenure. Each agency is required to build a code of ethics, and policies and laws relating to work ethics continue to be improved. It’s vital to emulate role models in following Ho Chi Minh’s thought, morality, and style.
