President Tran Dai Quang in the hearts and minds of Vietnamese

(VOVWORLD) - President Tran Dai Quang has passed away. In the minds of Vietnamese people, he was always an open and familiar leader who listened to the concerns of the people.

President Tran Dai Quang was born and raised in Quang Thiện commune, Kim Sơn district, Ninh Bình province. The local people are proud of him, a talented, responsible, and sentimental person. Whenever he visited his home village, President Quang thoughtfully visited neighbors.

Nguyen Cong Uan, Secretary of Quang Thiện commune’s Party Committee, says: “When he visited his home village, he was very modest. He didn’t need bodyguards and private cars. He shook hands with senior people before entering the meeting hall. He expressed his feeling of closeness with the locals.”

When he met voters as a National Assembly deputy, President Quang was remembered as a hospitable and trustworthy deputy. Nguyen Van Anh in Hanoi said: “President Quang listened to people’s opinions and shared his views as a state leader and a representative of the people and helped people understand Party guidelines and government policies.”  

Le Hong Thanh in Can Thơ city said President Quang was a thoughtful leader who cared for all people. He made countless diplomatic contributions to raise Vietnam’s status in the international arena. “Although President Tran Dai Quang was in office for only a short time, he created many changes in Vietnam’s external relations. Domestically, he was a leader with heart and a wholehearted comrade.”

Photographer Huynh Lanh, who met President Tran Dai Quang during Mr. Quang’s working visit to Kien Giang province, shared his personal feelings. “I felt a special emotion for the President. He looked very strict but he was actually sentimental with ordinary people. Despite his illness, he worked hard during his last days.”

President Tran Dai Quang’s passing has left strong feelings in the hearts of Vietnamese people.
