Prime Minister Phuc said Vietnam’s agriculture is inefficient because of climate change, high input costs, and outdated farming methods. He underscored the government’s intent to develop an organic, hi-tech, smart agriculture to serve the population of 100 million people and exports:“How can we solve the problem of Vietnam’s agriculture? Private businesses should work with agriculture cooperatives, start-ups in this field are encouraged; and cloud computing technology should be applied. The Vietnamese Party and State intends to apply science and technology to agriculture and provide capital for high-tech agriculture.”

The government leader called on localities to expand allocation of cultivated land, upgrade infrastructure, and shift policy towards hi-tech agriculture:“Sectors, along relevant ministries should focus on hi-tech agriculture. Decree 210 should be amended by this March to support agricultural growth. Relevant documents like the Land Law, which are out of the government’s jurisdiction, should be submitted to the National Assembly for amendments.”

The Prime Minister promised favorable conditions for enterprises and cooperatives to invest in high-tech agriculture and the protection of agricultural trademarks. He said he will promote Vietnam’s clean products to world markets.
