Racial discrimination continued to be a problem in the US in 2016. Nearly 1000 people were shot dead by the police, including 350 black and Latin American people. The incidents sparked demonstrations across the US.

Many shootings were also reported in the US with some of the suspects being Muslim immigrants, who apparently had connection to terrorism or have been radicalized. Most mass-shooting incidents, however were carried out by people born in the US.

Discrimination and home-grown terrorism will continue to be major challenges facing the Trump administration.
