PhuTho Sports Center of Ho Chi Minh City has opened 6 outdoor futsal courts. Tran Van Quang, Director of the Quang Tuyen Sports Company, who manages the courts, said it’s all about his passion for futsal: “Because of the National Futsal Team’s success at international competitions, Vietnamese athletes and fans have begun to show greater interest in the sport. Our Company has invested in outdoor futsal courts to reduce the cost for anyone who wants to play. Young people are highly enthusiastic about futsal.

Hector Souto, coach of Vietnam’s U20 futsal team, is interested in the outdoor courts, which are new to his country, Spain. He said Vietnam should popularize futsal to nurture more young footballers. If they are given more opportunities to play, they will grow. Hector said: Your efforts will bear fruit in the future. I’m not sure how long it will take–perhaps 10 years or longer -but I’m sure it will be a good result. We need more futsal courts. If you start playing futsal at 17 years old, it’s difficult to succeed. But if you start at 5, you’ll have a better chance of developing.”

Tran AnhTu, President of HCMC’s Football Federation and in charge of futsal, said the Federation has integrated futsal into the primary school curriculum. The City has organized futsal tournament for pupils at different levels.

Mr. Tu said: “Futsal is becoming widespread in Vietnam. HCMC now has 6 outdoor futsal courts. I’m very pleased with this trend.”

VOV and the Vietnam Football Federation will organize the finals of the National Futsal Tournament 2017 at the Military Zone 7 Gymnasium in HCMC from June 10th to 24th. 10 teams will compete for the championship titles.
