But, Vietnam is still facing challenges in this period with 14 million people being poor or near-poor, requiring support from the State and society.
Deputy Prime Minister Vuong Dinh Hue expressed his hope that the campaign to support the Fund for the Poor, launched by the Vietnam Fatherland Front, will receive more response from society towards sustainable poverty reduction: “The Party and State have made sustainable poverty reduction a highlight of their policies. The people and society are encouraged to respond to campaigns to help poor people or those affected by natural disasters. The Party and State also creates favorable conditions and encourages poor people to exert a great effort to escape poverty. This effort could be successful with the support of the people, the political system and international friends”.

At the launch ceremony, more than 17 billion VND was raised for the poor from sending an SMS at 1400.
