(VOVWORLD) - Ceremonies to pay tribute to President Tran Dai Quang started at 7 a.m on September 26 at the National Funeral Hall at No. 5, Tran Thanh Tong Street, Hanoi; the Reunification Palace in Ho Chi Minh city and the hall of the People’s Committee of Kim Son district in Ninh Binh province.

The President Quang's family was followed by a delegation of the Communist Party of Vietnam Central Committee led by Party General Secretary Nguyen Phu Trong.

The respect-paying ceremony continued with a Government delegation led by Prime Minister Nguyen Xuan Phuc, a National Assembly delegation headed by Chairwoman Nguyen Thi Kim Ngan, a State President delegation led by Acting President Dang Thi Ngoc Thinh, and a Vietnam Fatherland Front Central Committee delegation led by Vice President and Secretary General Hau A Lenh.

The delegation of the General Political Department of the People's Army, the Ministry of National Defence, was led by Minister Ngo Xuan Lich. The delegation of the Ministry of Public Security was led by Minister To Lam.

In the funeral book, Party leader Nguyen Phu Trong expressed his condolences to President Tran Dai Quang, a leader who greatly contributed to the Party and State. President Tran Dai Quang’s passing is a great loss to the Party, State and people of Vietnam.

Prime Minister Nguyen Xuan Phuc said that, during his career, President Tran Dai Quang was always dedicated and did his best to fulfil the tasks assigned by the Party, State and people of Vietnam.

Many delegations from agencies, sectors, and organizations and many others inside and outside Vietnam also paid tribute to President Tran Dai Quang.

On September 26 and 27, Vietnamese embassies in other countries opened funeral books and held ceremonies to pay tribute to President Tran Dai Quang.

During the two-day state funeral on September 26 and 27, governmental offices and public places fly the Vietnamese flag at half-mast, and no public entertainment events were held.

President Tran Dai Quang passed away at 10:05am on September 21 in Hanoi due to a serious illness at the age of 62.
