Van Long Wetland Nature Reserve recognized as Vietnam's ninth Ramsar site

(VOVWORLD) - The Van Long Wetland Nature Reserve in the northern province of Ninh Binh has been recognized as Vietnam’s ninth Ramsar site. The reserve is now the 2,360th Ramsar site in the world.
 The recognition coincided with the International Day of Biological Diversity (22/05). |
 80 km south of Hanoi, Van Long is the largest Wetland Nature Reserve in the Red River Delta. |
 It has been open for tourism since 1998. |
 Boasting an area of 2,734 ha, its signature features as a natural wet land remain untouched. Van Long is surrounded by 3 rivers: the Day, the Hoang Long, and the Boi. |
 It currently holds 2 records in Vietnam as home to the largest community of Delacour's langur and the largest naturally occurring visual patterning in nature. |
 Van Long is dubbed as “Ha Long Bay without waves”. It has nearly 100 stunning caves. Tourists can relax on a boat and enjoy the scenery. |
 Van Long not only has an ecosystem of wet lands but also features limestone mountains, agricultural land, plantation forests, and upland fields. |
 It is home to numerous animals including many varieties of fish and birds. |
 Van Long has become a popular destination for tourists particularly those from France, South Korea and Japan. |
