Early election held for staff of Vietnam-Russia Oil and Gas joint venture Vietsovpetro

(VOVworld) – Nearly 2,120 employees of the Vietnam-Russia Oil and Gas joint venture Vietsovpetro working in Ba Ria-Vung Tau province cast ballots on Wednesday at the Vung Tau airport and Vietsovpetro port.

Nguyen Van Chi works for Vietsovpetro: “Those who work at sea vote early. Both Vietsovpetro and local authorities have publicized the rights and responsibilities of the voters and published information about the candidates, so that qualified people can be chosen for the 14th National Assembly and Provincial People’s Councils”.  

Ballot boxes have been placed on ships and drilling rigs and company officials have taken steps to secure them. Vu Viet Kieu, Vice Secretary of the Party committee and Deputy Head of the Election Organizing Board at Vietsovpetro, said: “Workers on ships returning to the port will cast ballots at barge N06. For ships going offshore from May 4 to 22, voting will be held right on the ships”.
