14 universities, colleges celebrate Korean Alphabet Day 2018

(VOVWORLD) -Students from 14 Vietnamese universities and colleges celebrated the Korean Alphabet Day, known as Hangeul Day 2018 in Ho Chi Minh City University of Technology on Sunday.

Themed “Hangeul connects people”, the festival included a competition of uniform designing, an exhibition of South Korean handicraft products, performances of Korean culture and art, and quiz shows on Korea study. Festival goers also explored Korean food like kimchi (fermented napa cabbage), tried on Hanbok, Korean traditional costumes, and played interesting folk games. Ho Nguyen Khuong, a 4th year student of Oriental Study Faculty of the Ho Chi Minh City University of Technology, said: “The festival is divided into various pavilions in accordance with four seasons. It’s nice to learn about the Korean folk games, songs, and dances. Such festival helps us better understand the Korean culture.”

On this occasion, the 14 most prominent students of the 14 universities and colleges were provided with the Sejong scholarships by the Korean Foundation.

The festival was organized by the Korean Consulate General in Ho Chi Minh city, the Korean Foundation, and the Korean International Cooperation Agency (KOICA).
