2015 Olympic Day Run launched in Vietnam

(VOVworld)- The 2015 Olympic Day Run for public health took place at 7am in provinces and cities across Vietnam on Sunday attracting the participation of thousands of people.

Addressing the launch, Minister of Culture, Sports and Tourism Hoang Tuan Anh, who is also Head of the Vietnam Olympic Committee, said the event is among practical activities to celebrate Vietnam Sports Day (March 27) and mark the 69th anniversary of President Ho Chi Minh’s appeal for mass participation in sports activities (March 27, 1946-2015). The Olympic Day Run aims to form the practice of participation in sports among the community, promote healthy lifestyle and raise public awareness on the importance of physical exercise for people’s general health and wellbeing. Over 50 cities and provinces have responded to the event so far. During the event, music and sport performances are also held to add to the festive atmosphere.
