2016 Ban flower festival opens in Dien Bien province

(VOVworld) – The 2016 Ban (Bauhemia) Flower Festival opened in Dien Bien province on Sunday to honor local cultural identities and promote Ban flowers as the symbol for the province. The event is held on every March 13 to mark the opening of the Dien Bien Phu campaign in 1954 which ended the French colonialist ruling in Indochina.

At the opening ceremony, Dien Bien authorities introduced the Dien Bien Phu-Pa Khoang tourism zone which comprises of the Dien Bien Phu historical relic site and Pa Khoang lake surrounded. Le Hai Yen, a tourist from Ha Noi, said:  “This is a new tourism site so there are lots of things to discover. I think more visitors will come here in the future. The more developed society is, the more people want to get to the nature and untouched areas. Hopefully this site will drive Dien Bien province’s development forward.”
